FIVE POLICE REPORTS LODGED FOLLOWING FIGHTS IN KOTA TINGGI UMNO BRANCHES

KOTA TINGGI, Aug 4 (Bernama) -- Police have received five reports on the fighting incidents during the annual general meeting of several Umno branches in the Kota Tinggi division.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Osman Mohd Sebot said the police were investigating one of the reports under the Section 323 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing hurt.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, who is the division's chief, was reported as saying that the branch meeting this time around was the worst due to some "power crazy" elements.
Syed Hamid, who has obtained 10 nominations for the divisional chief's post, is expected to face a stiff challenge from former divisional vice-chief Daing A. Malik Daing A. Rahman who has secured 13 nominations so far.
